I am so excited to tell you about this great new thing that happened at J Bauman Salon. I just got it done a week ago and I’m loving every second of it. Have you heard of a “Lash Lift?” Keep reading if you’re curious on how to make your makeup routine a breeze while looking like a million bucks!
Last year was a tragic story, one that I blogged about in my post “Moonstruck Esteem Lash Serum by Younique.” In a nutshell, last summer I made a horrible decision to use my old lash curler, not realizing that the old rubber that you crush your lashes with rotted down to metal, so guess what happened next? You guessed it, I cut off my lashes. One hard squeeze made a click and there you have it in the palms of my hand an even strip of the side of my lashes……seriously?!?
Since that day, I’ve been taking really good care of them by using my growth lash serum, easing away from fake lashes, not putting heavy waterproof mascara on it, and ESPECIALLY not using as much the infamous lash curler. If I do, I consider being very light handed with it and double checking the rubber slots.
Recently, J Bauman has been improving the salon vibe by creating the ultimate guest experience by adding a lash center run by certified Lash Specialist, as well as our talented stylist, Cat Porras. Working in the hair world for a couple of years, she’s now ventured into lashes. With the excitement of our newest addition to services, Cat surprised me with something I knew very few about which was a “Lash Lift.”
A “Lash Lift,” is a service done by a trained professional, where your lashes is adhered onto a tacky strip called a “silicone shield,” to help create the shape, which are placed onto the upper eyelids of your lashes. Then gently your lashes is placed onto the strip to hold the perfect curl form while the solution is applied on top. The paste like formula used is basically a perm. Cat uses the brand “Lash Stuff,” which are manufactured for safe chemical use onto clients’ skin. Compared to the popular perms that you may have heard of in the 80s, unlike those known to be very aggressive, giving off a strong and putrid scent, this solution wasn’t as abrasive and if there was a scent it was very slight and masked by the salon atmosphere of aromatic Bumble and Bumble hairspray.
In these pictures you can see the process I went through. The under eye white pads are used to help hold down my lower lids to protect them from the safe chemicals used for the upper lashes. For the last image on the right, you can see the black cream, which is used for a Tint. So not only do you get a “Lash Lift,” you as well get a “Lash Tint” with NO additional cost. It’s awesome, especially for women who have blonde lashes, this really makes your eyes pop!
Here’s some Points when Looking into a “Lash Lift” :
- Fast -> Compared to lash appointments before I’ll be laying down for 3 hours getting extensions done. Even though I didn’t have any added, this still gave me a definite change.
- Only a 1 hour long Appointment!
- Problematic Straight Lashes -> A blessing and a curse Mama made me with straight everything! So now that they’re curled, without makeup, it really outlines my eyes to make them stand out.
- Stray form Extensions-> It’s always suggested that after running with extensions for a couple of months, you need that healing time in between before a new restart on your extensions.
- Also a lift is more than half the amount of the cost of extensions.
- If you still want extensions- wait a week before the
- Mascara is Life-> If I thought alone with the Lift it made my eyes pop, adding Non-Waterproof voluminizing mascara makes them 10x’s larger than life.
- Plus a Tint-> added to your Lift service you receive a Tint that pretty much colors your lashes. I know my hair is originally black, but she puts a tint even darker so that it outlines the tips of my lashes even more in the light.
- Lifespan-> 6 – 8 weeks
- YOU WON’T GO BLIND! -> As crazy as this sounds I was more nervous about this than anything else. I’ve known hair perms before to make my eyes water even though I’m not the one in the chair receiving the service, so going into this I was a little hesitant. Cat clearly eased my anxiety when she ran down the breakdown of everything she was doing on me, as well as what she’s putting on me.
- Pretty much, this formula is a very diluted solution to perms that we’ve known. So, like me, who’s eyes water a lot, there’s no fear that when a drop of solution gets in your eye, you won’t be automatically blind.
- If there is a sting Cat is right next to you the whole entire time checking in on how it feels. If there is any sense of an uncomfortable feeling than the solution is quickly rinsed out.
Lash Lift and/or Tint Aftercare :
- Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24hours.
- Swimming should be avoided for at least 24 hours.
- No other facial beauty treatments for 24 hours.
- Use of Sauna/Steam is possible AFTER 24 hours but may weaken the effect of the lift.
- No eye makeup for 24 hours.
- Do not use harsh products on your eyes/lashes.
- Be gentle with your lashes, no rubbing and pat gentle to dry.
- Avoid waterproof mascaras only due to the excessive rubbing required to remove
- Do not use eyelash curlers (You shouldn’t need to)
- Use and oil based serum to keep lashes moisturized (castor oil works well)
- Do not sleep with your lashes pressed into your pillow. This will affect the new shape of your lashes.
I’ve had these beautiful lashes for more than a week now and I am pleasantly and ecstatically happy about getting the service done. My husband loves to see me with no makeup, and just without having mascara on he comments on how beautiful my eyes look. Little does he know the secret that lies beneath, muwahaha.
