Right on time for St. Patty’s. I’ve always been inspired by that smoky, iridescent tone left behind by faded, once vivid color. It’s subtle hue sparks memories of childhood friends and an ample supply of Koolaid mix in place of actual hair dye. Fast forward to now, my long awaited dream to have MermaidĀ locks has come true with a new goodie from Wella called Instamatic.

Mint to Be with Instamatic

A semi-permanent color line, Instamatic has 6 shades, from “Smokey Amethyst” to “Oceanstorm,” a variety of hues that create a beautiful dusty finish. Wella claims to give that fashion forward color without making any real commitments to the salon. For instance, any profession who is limited in style for their job, can now have a fun pop of “Pink Dream,” to add to their wild weekend getaway. With the ability to fade within a few washes this hair color will leave you without a trace of evidence from a few nights before in Vegas;)

I put the dye to the test as I attempt Jaded Mint and here’s my results…

Jaded Mint Wella Instamatic

Wella Instamatic

Pros

  • Definitely created that smoky effect
  • Did Not make that dingy pool green color (I was afraid of that)
  • I can see that diffused/muted hue
  • Love the option of changing my Blonde different Instamatic colors easily:)

Cons

  • Must be used on Blonde hair levels 8 1/2 and above
  • Must be saturated and combed through
  • Could look spotty/stripey if the tones of your hair are not even
  • Fades too fast šŸ™

Excited to try more colors, stay tuned for what’s next after “Jaded Mint,”

Is anyone as much of a fan as me with matted colors? Also, if you’re curious on my head shot, like always, I can depend on my home girl Elysia Griffin Photography, for any of my professional pictures.
